Guy Davies Bateman Chief Executive Officer
Guy began his business career with a firm of Chartered Surveyors. He went on to work for Sun Life of Canada and Hambro Life but left in 1984 to jointly co-found Independent Financial Advisers, Claremont Savile, School Fees specialists. They co-designed and launched the first ‘draw-down’ scheme with NatWest Bank and further schemes with Citibank, Kleinwort Benson and the Halifax Building Society. He then Joined Private Investors Publications plc. who wrote and published financial newsletters for private investors and co-launched the first ‘Free-Standing’ Share Shop in the UK.
Guy returned to the school fees market and built IFA, Mason & Mason into the leading school fees company in the UK. He was instrumental in launching a school fees draw down scheme with the Portman Building Society. He remained in financial services and specialised in alternative investments, mainly using SIPPs. He moved on to become the main fund raiser for The Business Phone of which he became a Director in October 2012.
Stephen Welshman Chief Technical Officer
Stephen joined The Business Phone in June 2015 with a brief to develop and implement an IT strategy to support the business as it moves from a systems development phase to a fully operational, revenue generating organization.
Having worked in senior technical and managerial roles for and with some of the UK’s biggest companies, including Allied Lyons, Unigate and Lloyds Bank, he brings a wealth of experience to TBP and has been instrumental in moving the company forward during this time. Has extensive experience of using technology to underpin business growth.
Holds a degree in Pure and Applied Physics.

Tristram Jelley Chief Operations Officer
Tristram started his professional life with Schindler Ltd at their Cheltenham HQ before being moved to London to develop a new sales role. Subsequently he moved to Moscow in 1997 and after a spell at MGIMO university took up a position in recruitment with Antal International. Within six months he was asked to relocate to Almaty, Kazakhstan to open a new regional office for Central Asia with successful recruitment extending to Uzbekistan and Kirgizstan. Following some time back in Moscow and then Bucharest in business development roles he returned to the UK in 2006.
Running Quintillio Ltd, a recruitment business, Tristram introduced Stephen Welshman, Chandni Vishen and most recently Darren Jennings to TBP. He will continue to help recruit key people but focus on Business Development and organisational structures.
Tristram has a B.Sc. in Geography and Environmental Science from UUC.
